It isn’t everyday that a Bangladeshi makes headlines around the world. But it does happen every now and then! 32-year-old Bangladeshi mountaineer Wasfia Nazreen is the latest to shine some light on the name of our country once again.
Prestigious publication National Geographic has already awarded her National Geographic’s Adventurer of the Year title after she conquered the Mount Everest. She is the second Bangladeshi woman to conquer the world’s highest peak.
However, for Wasfia Nazreen, who is also a writer and a social worker in Bangladesh, the journey doesn’t end here. She can still win the second title — People’s Choice award — and for this she needs your help.
You can visit National Geographic Adventurer of the Year 2015 People’s Choice Vote and cast your vote for Wasfia Nazreen. The magazine will publish the results for People’s Choice award on February 2015.
Wasfia is no stranger when it comes to climbing. You can find out more about her on Wikipedia. NatGeo’s Adventurer of the Year 2015 title is prestigious enough for a mountaineer, but winning People’s Choice award certainly takes the pride to a new height; not just for herself, but for the entire country.
So vote now, and encourage your friends to vote for her, too.
