Where to buy 2020 MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, and iPad Pro in Dhaka

The pandemic pretty much put a full stop to life in Bangladesh for more than two months until the government decided to reopen nearly everything. While the shops are mostly open, new products are still not coming through customs. That means if you’ve been waiting for one of three Apple’s brand new products — the 2020 MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, and 2020 iPad Pro, you still haven’t got them.

Apple updated its line of 13-inch MacBook Air, 13-inch MacBook Pro, and the iPad Pro a few months ago. While the iPad Pro has not seen a significant update — except for the LiDAR scanner and the Magic Keyboard accessory — the Macs have seen one major update, a brand new keyboard.

Apple’s Mac lineup has seen some of its worst days since 2016 with the introduction of butterfly mechanisms in the keyboards. All Macs until recently had the butterfly keyboards that were prone to malfunction. Thankfully, Apple introduced the new Magic Keyboard with its 16-inch MacBook keyboard that was released late last year. Those Macs are already available in Bangladesh. But if you’ve been waiting for one of the smaller Macs with the new Magic Keyboard, you need to get the 2020 model of Macs.

The 13-inch MacBook Air and 13-inch MacBook Pro have been reviewed by virtually everyone around the world. Even though pandemic has halted life as we know it, in most cases, delivery of products — such as laptops — have continued. However, because Apple stores have remained closed until recently, plus Bangladeshi customs are not releasing non-essential cargo, none of the three new products have made it to Bangladesh yet.

The good news is, some Apple product resellers are sharing news on social media that the new products are soon going to be available in Bangladesh. One seller has already started taking pre-orders for all variants of the new Mac laptops. I’d leave it up to you to decide whether you’re that desperate to pre-order the product, but here is a list of outlets where you can expect to buy the new MacBooks or iPad Pros.

Where to buy new 2020 MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, and iPad Pros?

Here’s a list of authorized Apple resellers in Dhaka, Bangladesh:

Retrieved from Apple website.

Executive Machines Limited

With a store at Gulshan 2 and another at BCS Computer City (IDB, Agargaon), Executive Machines Limited is one of the first choices for Apple buyers. I have personal experience of buying products from them and their service has always been helpful and supportive.

You can see their business addresses and hours on their Facebook page as well as leave a message if you have questions related to pricing.

Alohaishoppe

Another trusted name in the world of Apple products in Bangladesh is Alohaishoppe. One of the oldest official Apple product resellers in Bangladesh, you can also expect them to be very professional and supportive in both sales and after-sales service.

Their primary store is located at Bashundhara City, but you can find out more about their business hours and contact them for pricing info on their Facebook page.

Alohaishoppe also has a website but the pricing is not updated on a regular basis. So you would want to contact their sales service to know more about pricing.

iCenter

With the main branch located at Jamuna Future City, iCenter is the last officially-listed Apple authorized reseller in Bangladesh.

I do not have any personal experience with them but I’ve heard mixed reports from their customers about their quality of aftersales service. The few times I visited their store at JFP, I didn’t feel them to be very warm and supportive, but they still do offer the 1-year Apple International Warranty for products purchased through them. That means if you get a good deal after cross-checking the pricing between all three, it’s probably okay to purchase the product from them.

You can learn more about iCenter locations and their contact info on their official Facebook page.

Honorary mentions

The sellers listed below are not listed on Apple website as an authorized reseller. However, based on community feedback (including people I know closely), they appear to be very popular and professional in their service. They also offer competitive pricing depending on the model you’re getting.

A word on warranty: These shops may list Apple products without an international warranty. Often called as “Bangladeshi warranty,” please ask them for more details on what their warranty policy is. I’m not 100% clear on how their local warranty works, but you can save money by getting a local warranty. Please discuss the warranty before making a final purchase.

Custom Mac BD

Custom Mac BD has been gaining traction these days through their Facebook page. They also have a physical store located at Jamuna Future Park. You can contact them for further queries about pricing and locations on their Facebook page. They also list pricing of their products on their website.

Red Apple BD

I’ve heard positive reviews from Red Apple customers within my known circle. Although I have not personally purchased anything from them, they do have a loyal customer base. You can contact Red Apple BD through their Facebook page or check pricing (may not be up-to-date) on their website.

Star Tech

Star Tech is a popular shop for computer parts. While they are not very well-known in the Apple side of things in Bangladeshi market, they have been selling Apple products like MacBooks and iPads for years now.

The company recently announced on their Facebook group that the 2020 MacBook Air and MacBook Pros were coming soon and you can see it on their website as well.

How much will the 2020 MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, and iPad pro cost in Bangladesh?

The pricing of the upcoming MacBook Air, Pro, and 2020 iPad Pro has not been released officially yet. I’ve seen a few estimates, but none of them have given a final price yet. Custom Mac BD has already listed the new products on their preordering page, but it may still not be final.

Star Tech has also listed the 2020 models of MacBook Air and Pro on its website, however, it lacks any pricing information.

From the past experience, the pricing usually follows $1 = BDT 100 structure, if not more. Which means the $999 13-inch MacBook Air (base model) could be sold for between BDT 1,00,000 to BDT 1,10,000. Similarly, the base model 13-inch MacBook Pro could cost between BDT 1,29,000 to BDT 1,35,000. There was a sign of this pricing on a Facebook post published by Custom Mac BD last month.

Overall, if you go to Apple.com and take the pricing of the product that you’re hoping to buy, and multiply that by 100, you will get an estimated price of the product when it lands in Dhaka.

Or you can just contact one of the desired sellers listed above to ask about the possible pricing of the upcoming MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, or 2020 iPad Pros.
